Elaine Seidman, Artistic Directory

Elaine began her dance training in the area with The National Ballet, where she grew up dancing many full-length ballets as well as many original contemporary ballets. She majored in dance at SUNY Purchase and received her BFA in Drama from The Catholic University. After dancing professionally and teaching in New York City and the surrounding area, Elaine returned to the Washington/Baltimore area where she has been teaching locally for the past 20 years and is still dancing professionally.

As a Fellow Member of the CCA, Elaine holds the coveted Maestro Enrico Cecchetti Diploma and is able to present both teachers and students through all levels of the Cecchetti Method. This year, she was the recipient of the Sylvia Hamer/Margaret Marsh Scholarship allowing her to study the method in England.

Elaine’s students have been accepted at some of the best dance universities in the world including NYU, SUNY Purchase, North Carolina School for the Arts, Julliard, the Laban Institute in London and the Kate Simmons College in Manchester England. Her students have been awarded college scholarships, the Tremaine Convention Performing Arts Scholarship and scholarships to attend international summer programs.

Also an award-winning choreographer, her ballet and contemporary/lyrical dances have been overall winners and have received best choreography and best overall technique awards.

Elaine teaches all levels and ages and enjoys sharing the love of ballet and the magic of the art with her students.

My daughter Michaela who will be three in two weeks has been dancing with the little ladies of the Creative Movement class for two months now and she loves it! Elaine is great with the little ones and always makes class fun yet educational. Elaine is great at getting them focused and enjoying themselves. I can't wait to see their performance in June and I know Michaela can't either, she asks me daily when will she have her recital :)

After trying a few dance studios in the area, we came across Turning Pointe. My daughter, Melia has been dancing there for 4 years, starting in ballet and now in hip hop. We had her birthday party at the studio and have recommended TPDA to many friends who now go. It's so convenient and we love all the teachers. She has made some great friends there too. We all love to dance so we are glad she is learning from the best.
