Date: Saturday, June 7th Time: Find your time slot here Location: Laurel High School Auditorium, 8000 Cherry Lane, Laurel MD, 20707 Where do I go/what do I do when I get to the auditorium?
When you arrive, park and head to the auditorium. Head to the seats closer to the sage and sit with dancers in the same costume. A teacher will call your class when it is their turn to rehearse on stage.
What is a dress rehearsal and why is it important?
A dress rehearsal is a full run-through of a performance in costume, on stage, and with all the technical elements—lighting and music—just like the real show. For our youngest dancers, this experience is incredibly valuable. It gives them a chance to become familiar with the performance space, understand where to go and when, and practice dancing in their costumes.
Most importantly, a dress rehearsal helps ease nerves and build confidence. Young dancers often feel more comfortable and excited when they've had a chance to see the stage, hear the music, and understand what to expect. It’s also a key opportunity for our teachers to ensure that every child feels supported and set up for success on performance day.
How long does it take? It is important to arrive in enough time to park, find you class in the auditorium, and make any last minute touch ups to hair and make up. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time slot, earlier if you anticipate you dancer making a bathroom stop. Each class has about 10 minutes allocated to run their dance twice. Once your dancer has practiced their dance twice on stage you are free to go. Many younger dancers like to sit in the audience for a bit and watch other classes perform. What does my dancer wear? Dancers wear their costumes and their hair styled as if it was the actual performance. This includes appropriate shoes, tights and hair accessories as assigned by your dancers' teacher. Can I buy tights and shoe at dress rehearsal? Unfortunately no, we do not have tights and shoes available for purchase at dress rehearsal. Please check with your dancers' teacher ahead of time regarding the correct color shoes and tights.
Can I take videos and/or pictures?
Yes! Please do! BUT...
DO NOT use flash
DO NOT block the isles
DO NOT block people seated behind you from seeing
DO NOT coach your child from the audience
